Do we really need reservation quota in higher education??????
Education is the primary need for a developing nation to turn into developed one. And according to our human rights listed in Indian constitution “all the citizen of India have a right to education” irrespective of their caste, sex and religion. Then why the government introduced this reservation quota in educational institutes. ??
Well government says they introduced this reservation system in order to mitigate backwardness of the socially and educationally backward communities and the Scheduled Castes and Tribes but why government gives reservation in just higher education? Why not the Government does something so that we don’t need to introduce this reservation system. In today’s date Indian education system have somewhere around 50% seats reserved for specific categories because reservation cannot exceed more than 50% as per the rulings given by the Supreme Court….. Well if judiciary have allowed more than that then there would be around 100% reservation and all the general category will be soon a part of uneducated crowd. Caste and classes difference has been a parasite for Indian education system for ages past.
And instead of eradicating this caste and classes difference our Indian Govt. is giving rise to these differences. This reservation system has already started affecting the unity of our nation and has divided our nation into different castes. Why can’t our Govt. see the results of this reservation …..It has given birth to abhorrence among the people for different caste and religion. A well deserving student don’t get admission in a good institutes just because he don’t belong to SC/St or OBC category then obviously he will hate this caste system and it has also given birth to Corruption , some people follow illegal steps just to get admission in educational institutes recently we all witnessed Du’s fake category certificate racket. That how the students were given admission on the basis of fake certificates. And this is not the only example other than this one of Du’s most prestigious college Kirori mal college gave admission to 186 students against its sanctioned 53 seats across five popular courses between academic years 2006-07 and 2009-10 through ECA( extracurricular activity) quota. And the difference between the merits was around 40%. And there are many more such cases but still no effect on government.
Our Govt. should understand that 60% of Indian population i.e. rural population needs schools, health care and infrastructure in rural areas, not reservation in urban institutes. Primary education is the first step to achieve higher education, if people are not getting this basic primary education than will that reservation is of any use for theses peoples. And why reservation is only on the basis of caste not on economic background ??????? Can a person living below the poverty line provide education to his children?? Do you think this reservation will help him in anyway ???? No, it can’t because primary education is something we need first not reservation in higher education. But as always our government is good for nothing and as per the latest news Delhi Govt. increased OBC quota from 15% to 21% in educational institutes. I wish our Govt. wake up before it’s too late.
