They Say Age is Just A Number. They Are Right.
Several times we restrict
ourselves from doing what we want to do just because “we think” that it is not
suitable for our age. But just to prove us wrong here is the story of some
great people who didn’t let their age be the barrier in their choice.
1. Paddy
Jones
This lady
topped our list just for those elegant moves of salsa she did on the stage of Britain's
Got Talent 2014 at the age of 82, yeah ! you read that right. At the age of 82,
she stunned the world through her performance.
Watch her
performance here.
2. Dorothy
Davenhill Hirsch
Well we
often heard the names of youngest people who visited the North Pole. But, here
Mr. Dorothy Davenhill Hirsch became the oldest person to visit aboard the
Russian Nuclear Ice Breaker Yamal in 2004. At the age of 89 he survived in the temperatures
plunging to −43 °C.
3. Kimani Maruge
There is no age for
education. This thing was proved by former Mau Mau fighter Kimani Maruge who enrolled
in the first year at the age of 84 on January 12, 2004. As per him, it was the announcement
of universal and free elementary education in 2003 by the Kenyan government
which encouraged him to learn.
4. Milind Soman
Winning a title of “Iron Man” in the toughest triathlon at an age of 50
is not a simple task. But, Model-actor Milind Soman, won the Ironman title at a
triathlon held in Zurich in Switzerland on July 19 in which over 2,000
participants including seven Indians participated. The triathlon, organised by
World Triathalon Corporation, includes a 3.8-km swim, 180.2-km cycle ride and
42.2-km run and is widely known as the world’s toughest race as all these
things has to be completed within 16 hours. But, Milind Soman, who participated
in the race for the first time, took 15 hours and 19 minutes to finish it.
5. Vallabhajosyula Sriramulu
The 92 year-old retired Indian Navy Officer, Vallabhajosyula Sriramulu, won
a gold medal at the World Masters Athletics Championships. In the Championship,
