Indians - The Born Mathematicians
Once the great scientist Albert Einstein quoted “We owe a lot to the Indians, who taught us how to count, without which no worthwhile scientific discovery could have been made.” This was enough to make a country proud of what treasure we had in our past for which the whole world admires us today.
We the people of India won’t be aware of the facts that yes the mathematics without which nothing would have been possible was developed in India.
The number system was originated from India and the digit zero was invented by an Indian scientist named Aryabhatta. Not only this algebra, trigonometry and calculus also originated from India. Quadratic equation was used by Sridharacharya in the 11th century. The largest numbers the Greeks and the Romans used were 106, whereas, Hindus used numbers as big as 10*53(i.e. 10 to the power of 53) with specific names as early as 5000 B.C. during the Vedic period. Even today, we don’t use such big numbers the largest number used today is 10*12(i.e. 10 to the power of 12).
I think it won’t be wrong if I say that Indians were born mathematicians because all the great discovery and development in mathematics is just because of Indians. When we talk about great mathematician maximum of them were Indians. But though after having such gems in our country we are developing nation not developed but those developed nations won’t b able to calculate the development without mathematics. All the western countries should be grateful to Indians for this discovery because we gave them the basic knowledge of the things because of which they are developed today.
