In a late night circular released by Finance and Railway Ministry jointly, the first class pass holders of Mumbai suburban local train will have to pay all the income they earn every month to government, as a fee for living in India. The circular was an enclosure to earlier circular that retracts all the hikes made in the second-class pass fare for Mumbal local train passengers.
"While we have given real relief to passengers travelling by second class, the next step was to remove all the incentives given to the unnecessary elements living in the country. Therefore, we have decided to ask a slightly upper middle class that affords first class pass to give whatever he earns during the month to the government. There is no need to consume or save anything in this country," said Railway official Anant Mishra.
Railway Ministry has rolled back all the increase in rail fare for second-class tickets and hiked pass fare by 14.2%. It kept hike for first class tickets and passes as it is. According to sources, the government bent in front of its ally Shiv Sena that was worried about upcoming state elections in Maharashtra. However, as a natural extension to that the government took all the incentives of consumption and savings from the people who are capable of travelling by first class. These incentives have been carrying in India since the country got freedom.
